2 OCT 2010: RIVINGTON TRAIL HALF MARATHON & 3KM, HORWICH
A single trip up to look at the possibilities of a trail event from Rivington was enough to convince us that this would be a great venue and a great Trail Run - and so it turned out - it was a great day and fabulous route.
The HQ is at Rivington & Blackrod School and start and finish in 2010 will be on the school playing fields.
There will be an opening 4km loop out to Rivington Barn and up towards the Pike, dropping back down towards the start area before reaching the top. There will be a drink station at the bottom of the hill as you go back out towards Rivington Barn.
Second time along you will continue straight on behind the Barn instead of turning up to the Pike and join Sheep House Lane dropping down the footpath next to the road to the village cafe.
You'll cross the road here and through a gate and on to Yarrow Reservoir where drinks station 2 will be (8km). Picking up the trail around the east side of Angelzerke Reservoir to the top end of the lake (drink station 3).
On the west side of the lake you take the footpath up hill to Grey Heights and left on to the bridleway running soputh above the lake, eventually getting to the dam.
Cross the dam and back up to Yarrow Reservoir (drink station 4) and retrace your steps back to Rivington. After a short distance on Rivington Lane run up to the back of the Barn anain and return to the start/finsih line.

Age limit Half Marathon 17yrs/3km 7yrs.
All Half Marathon runners runners will receive a high quality Salomon technical t-shirt. 3km runners will receive a medal.
Half marathon prizes for first 5 M/F, first Masters M/F 40, 45, 50, 55, 60+.
Limit 1000.
