8 SEP 2013: WYE VALLEY TRAIL MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON
|
The Wye Valley provides stunning scenery and none more so than at Symonds Yat where we present this fabolous Marathon and Half Marathon taking in the forests of the Forest of Dean and the river tow paths between Symonds Yat and Monmouth.
Starting at Bracelands Adventure Centre in the heart of the forest there is an opening 7km loop on relatively level forest trails before a long descent to the River Wye, turning towards Symonds Yat and a steep climb up the valley sides then returning to the start where the half marathon is complete.
The marathon descends once again to the River Wye but this time turns towards monmouth and approx 15km of flat tow path running before the sting-in-the-tail a second long climb to the finish.
The marathon can be tackled as a team relay consisiting of teams of 4 runners. The relay distance range from 5 to 7 miles in distance.
The Night Owl run on Saturday evening gives you a chance for a fun warm up if you are local or staying over in a hotel or camping at Bracelands - run through the forest as it gets dark with the aid of a head torch - last year an Owl really dip hoot just as we set off.
