Jerusalem is one of the Worlds Great Cities and is the heart of one Worlds of most historic regions.

The retaining ("Western") wall of the Jewish Temple, where God's presence was believed to have dwelt, exists side by side with the starting point for Mohammad's heavenly ascent on the Temple Mount. Just down the street is the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where, according to most Christians, Jesus was crucified and resurrected. As the home of the Foundation Stone, the point from which the world purportedly came into being, Jerusalem is literally as old as God.

What's just as exciting as Jerusalem's past is its vibrant present. Within walking distance from the Old City is popular Ben Yehuda Street, a pedestrian plaza lined with souvenir and art shops, restaurants and cafés.

THE MARATHON

The selected running route narrates the story of Jerusalem in the course of 3000 years of this city's history; it combines a challenge for the runners with splendid views and the typical culture of Jerusalem.

This marathon offers three different option:

·      The complete marathon - 42 km

·      The half marathon - 21 km

·      The 10 km 

The runners in this marathon and half marathon will enjoy an exceptional event in addition to the traditional pasta night.

This particular date of the marathon has been selected especially in order to offer the runners comfortable weather and a low level of humidity.

The route is undulating to hilly but is a wonderful experience not to be missed.

ITINERARY

Wed 19th March: Flights with BA departing LHR at 10:55 and arriving Tel Aviv at 17:45. Flight are also available with EasyJet - if you choose to travel with EasyJet you should book your own flights and apply a discount of £475 to the package prices.

Transfer to your hotel in Jerusalem, either the 5-star deluxe Crowne Plaza, located just a few minutes walk from the race start and finish area, or the 4-star Jerusalem Gardens Hotel located at the entrance to the city. Dinner at your hotel.

Thur 20 March: Race registration and including city sight seeing tour. 

Breakfast, then begin the day's tour on the Mount of Olives for a breathtaking view of the entire city.  Walk    down the traditional Palm Sunday route to the Church of All Nations and the Garden of Gethsemane.  Drive via the Kidron Valley to Mt. Zion and visit the Room of the Last Supper and  David's Tomb.  Continue by foot in the Walled City.  In the Jewish Quarter see the Cardo and Western Wall.  Enjoy the panoramic view of the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount.  In   the   Christian Quarter walk along the via Dolorosa and the Stations of the cross, visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Sat  22nd March: At leisure. Included sight seeing tour.

Depart Jerusalem and drive to Qumran. Visit the caves where the Essene community wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls. 

Continue through the Judean Wilderness to the lowest point on earth -- the Dead Sea.  Drive along the shores of the Dead Sea to the base of Massada, the last stronghold of the Jewish zealots against the Romans.  Ascend by cable car and tour the famed archaeological site including Herod's palace, an ancient synagogue and a bathhouse.  After descending drive to a nearby oasis and enjoy an opportunity to swim or "float" in the unique waters of the Dead Sea. Overnight Jerusalem and dinner at your hotel.

Sun 3rd March: Transfer to Tel Aviv Airport for the BA flight to LHR departing 19:00, arriving 22:35 or transfer to your EasyJet flight.
