2:09 Events are pleased to have been asked to organise one of the South of Englands leading Marathons and Half Marathons. Bacchus starts and finishes at Denbies Wine Estate, London Road, Dorking, RH5 6AA., 265 acres of vineyard. With six wine tasting stations per lap, post race Hog Roast, fancy dress, stunning views and an international field, the focus of this event is fun fun, fun.
Denbies Bacchus half marathon was voted second best half in the UK by Runners World Readers in 2013 and 2014 and voted third best event over all in 2014.
Since 2014, 100% of runner’s who posted on Runner’s World have said they would do it again.
As England’s largest vineyard Denbies Wine Estate has been producing award winning wines since 1986. It is the first wine estate in the world to give visitors of all ages a unique and fascinating insight into all aspects of the wine producing process, all year round, with indoor and outdoor tours and tasting.
The vineyards of Denbies Estate are situated on the North Downs with its famous chalky soil, in a protected valley of south facing slopes.
The venue has secure baggage, toilets and changing facilities (sorry, no showers). Refreshments are available for purchase from the restaurant and a post race Hog Roast will be provided free of charge to all participants of the full and half marathon.
Friends, family and supporters are welcome to spend the day at Denbies with indoor wine tasting, art gallery, Farm Shop, Wine and Gift Shop and public footpath trails. Entry to the estate is free of charge.
Finishers of the Full and Half Marathon will be presented with a technical t-shirt (available in Small, Medium, Large or X-large), medal, post-race hog roast and complimentary drink on completion of the race.
Entrants for the full or half marathon are required to be 18 years or above.
There are 3 start waves starting 30mins apart to even the flow of runners on the route and at wine tasting stations. All marathon runners will set off at 10am in the first wave along with 500 half Marathon runners, the subsequent two following waves will set off at 10.30am and 11am for the half marathon with 850 in each block. You will need to pre-choose your wave so that you can be sure of starting with your friends. The maximum number in any single wave will be 850 runners.

Download a route map here. The route is one lap (Half) or two laps (Full) and starts and finishes at the marvelous Denbies Vineyard near Dorking, Surrey. The route is undulating (with one significant hill) and multi-terrain with a bias towards road.
Using footpaths along the North Downs Way, you will be guaranteed breath-taking views over the Mole Valley, Ranmore Common and the North Downs.
While this event is not being run under UKAthletics rules, for health and safety reasons we will be adopting their no headphone rules as there are some road crossings with live traffic, it may also be necessary to hear instructions in countryside locations even when there is no traffic.
However, UKAthletics make the following allowance:
Headphones that work by conducting sound through bones and do not sit in the ears are acceptable. As they do not sit in the ear sound is not blocked.

Registration is on the Resultsbase online portal - £2 admin charge and 1.25% credit card charge will be added to your payment.
Registration closes on September 3rd at midnight or when the limit of 2500 is reached if earlier - THE EVENT SOLD OUT 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE IN 2016 so please enter early to avoid disappointment.
