The Los Angeles Marathon has moved to a new date on Patriots Day - Monday 25th May.

Although this is the 24th anniversary of the event there are new owners who are putting on a fantastic show.

The race, itself, is only half the fun. RUN/EX/09, the LA Marathon's annual two-day running, heath and wellness exposition at the LA Convention Center is a running enthusiast's dream, and a definite highlight of marathon weekend.

The largest Marathon Exposition in the world, RUN/EX/09 hosts talks and exhibits, and sells running shoes, apparel and the latest the sport has to offer for both the beginning runner and the seasoned marathoner.

RUN/EX/09 also serves as the pick-up location for timing chips, bib numbers, t-shirts and goodie bags for all runners, cyclists, volunteers and their families and friends.

In addition to the cheering spectators, you can get a morale boast from the Marathon's trademark course entertainment. Ten major entertainment centres are located throughout the course to invigorate your pace and keep you moving to the finish line.

Music, Food and fun are at the heart of the Finish Line Festival, where spectators join with runners in a rousing celebration of the considerable accomplishment that comes with completing the 26.2-mile race. 

So you've done the hard work, now it's time to celebrate!

After you cross the finish line, head over to the L.A Marathon's popular Finish Line Festival, a rollicking carnival of music, food and fun, where spectators join with runners to celebrate the considerable accomplishment of completing a 26.2 mile race.

This all day event takes place at 3rd and Flower streets where you can hear a live broadcast of the Marathon. After the broadcast ends, the celebration begins in earnest as several bands begin rocking the streets and creating a real party atmosphere. The Festival draws more than 100,000 people annually to enjoy music, food and the many sponsor exhibits offering a wide array of fun for the entire family.

Friday 22 May: Depart from London Heathrow on the Virgin Atlantic flight to Los Angeles. On arrival transfer (30mins) to your hotel  for 4 nights The Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

Saturday 23 May: Free time to take in Los Angeles, Beverley Hills and Hollywood. Visit the Los Angeles Marathon Expo and collect your running pack.

Sunday 24 May: At leisure in Los Angeles.

Monday 25 May: Race day - the start and finish lines are just 8 city blocks from your hotel so you can stroll down in 10mins for the 7.20am start.

Tuesday 26 May: Time at leisure in the morning then transfer to LAX Airport for the return Virgin Atlantic flight to Heathrow (arriving next day), or extend your stay in Los Angeles.

MILLENNIUM BILTMORE HOTEL

This superior historic hotel is in the heart of downtown LA and is the Headquarters hotel for the LA Marathon. The start and finish of the marathon are a short walk away and you are close to the Marathon Expo, Staples Center, Nokia Theatre, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Dodger Stadium and the Museum of Contemporary Arts.

All rooms at the Biltmore have bathrooms en suite, hair dryers, air conditioning and cable tv. The hotel has two restaurants, afternoon teas service, business centre and indoor 'Roman' style swimming pool. The Metro can be reached outside the hotel at Pershing Square putting you in touch many of the sights of LA.
