30 JUN 2012: MIDNIGHT SUN MARATHON TROMSO, NORWAY
Running in broad daylight in the middle of the night is something that is hard to do in most places in the world but at 70 degrees north it is possible to do it in Tromso.
Tromso is the northern capital of Norway and from here there is nothing between you and the North Pole. Although it only has a population of around 64,000 it is surprisingly cosmopolitan, with cafes, bars and restaurants supporting a thriving nightlife. From the end of May to July the sun never sets and it is this makes the Midnight Sun Marathon something special.
The marathon takes in the mainland side of Tromso, through Tomosdalan and then you cross onto the Island side of Tromso City, which is the main part of Tromso finishing in the Market Square. As well as the full marathon there is a half marathon, 10km, mini marathon, children's races and a 10km Inline Skating race.

Itinerary
Thu 28 Jun: Arrive in Tromso on your own flights (flights available with Norgegian Airlines from and SAS from Heathrow). 3 nights on bed and hot buffet breakfast basis.
Fri 29 Jun: Day at leisure to discover this beautiful Fjord land.
Sat 30 Jun: Day at leisure - marathon start ay 8.30pm and the half marathon 10.30pm.
Sun 1 Jul: The races come to an end. Day at leisure. Transfer to the airport and return flight to Gatwick via Oslo with Norwegian or Heathrow via Oslo with SAS.
