Kathrine Switzer was a trail blaizer back in the 1960's when women were not allowed to run marathons. She entered and ran the Boston Marathon in 1967 and famously officials tried to pull off her number and take her off the course. Her male fellow runners ensured she stayed in and thus started the battle to get women accepted in marathon races.
Kathrine's race number that day was 261 and she has been a crusaider for women's running ever since. She has now launched the 261 Women's Marathon and 10km in Palma de Mallorca and invites all women to come an take part. Details can be found on our website at HERE.
