It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas and slipping into that red and white suit for a little festive fun and exercise. This year will be the seventh year we have organised this Santa Run, in partnership with Denbies Vineyard in Dorking, and it's been popular since day one. We are already looking forward to the spectacle of hundreds of red-suited, bearded Santas weaving in and out of the vines. If you are worried that you might not have the right outfit for the event, worry not because we provide the suits as part of the entry fee. It's one size to fit all, although there is also a children's size suitable for kids under 10. If you have your own suit, you are welcome to wear it and you can certainly add embellishment to the ones we provide.
Denbies Santa Run is supported by two local charity partners Eikon, a Surrey charity working to help young people feel, safe, heard and supported and QEF, the Queen Elizabeth Fund for disabled people, which delivers services to help disabled people achieve their potential while living with greater independence. You can find out more about the work of Eikon at https://eikon.org.uk/about-eikon/ or about QEF at https://www.qef.org.uk/about/
Both charities will have a number of participants in the event on the day, will have a presence at the start/finish area and will also be providing some our of our volunteer team.
The event is very much a Christmas Fun Run. It isn't timed and while there are medals and numbers there are no prizes for being first across the line. The numbers are there to identify yourself in the post-race photos because strangely it's hard to pick out one Santa from another behind the white beards. Free digital downloads of your post-race photos are included in the entry fee. What is also included in the entry fee is a post-run cup of mulled wine and a mince pie (with soft drink options for children).
The run is two laps of a 2.5K route which broadly follows a circular route out and around Denbies main building taking in parts of the North Downs Way on a mixed track of concrete, dirt trails and grass. If you are worried your children won't manage the full 5K you can do one lap and still earn the medal, mulled wine and mince pie. The route may be a bit muddy under foot as parts of it are on the North Downs Way through a wooded section but it is suitable for running buggies/ strollers.
Venue: Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking
Start time: 10:30 am
Entries close: Thursday 7th December or when the race reaches capacity.
Become an Eikon Santa and help make Christmas Magical!
This festive season, we’re inviting you to become an Eikon Santa and help us make a real difference in the lives of children and young people in Surrey. While having plenty of festive fun on Team Eikon, you’ll be spreading joy, kindness, and a little extra magic where it’s needed most.
Growing up in today’s world can be incredibly challenging. Every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and supported. So, The Eikon Charity creates spaces for them where they can be themselves and talk about their thoughts and feelings. Children understand better than anyone what’s happening in their own lives, so Eikon listens, without judging.
Eikon helps them to build the confidence and the skills they need to be safe and to thrive. They help early on, because it stops problems from becoming bigger. But Eikon is also there for children and young people when problems have developed, and they need more focused help.
Schools, parents, and carers sometimes need help too, so Eikon works with them so that children and young people can get the right care and support for their needs.
Everything Eikon learns from their work is used to inspire change for children.
Once your race entry is accepted either online, by post or over the telephone we are unable to make refunds.
