It has two years to qualify and assuming Cape Town joins the club in 2026 (it has one more year to qualfiy in 2025) Shanghai will be the ninth and last member of the Marathon Majors in 2027.
There is much to like about the race and the city. Shanghai is one of the world's major centres for finance, business, economics, scientific research, manufacturing, transportation, tourism and culture. Its marathon offers you a glimpse of all of this. It’s a scenic point-to-point course which starts at the Bund, an historic waterfront district surrounded by sky-scrappers and then follows a route to the centre of the city before heading down and along the river before finishing at the impressive 70,000 seater Shanghai Stadium.
Our package includes four nights at the five-star Conrad Shanghai hotel, guaranteed race entry, daily breakfasts, a one day tour of the City and a pre-race pasta dinner.
CONRAD HOTEL, SHANGHAI *****
Overlooking Nanjing Road, the Conrad is a landmark 5-star hotel which rises from the heart of the People’s Square. The iconic hotel has 66 floors and includes a wellness spa, indoor pool, Executive Lounge, and three distinct restaurants. The hotel is blocks away from the Bund, where the Marathon starts, Shanghai Old Street, and Shanghai World Financial Center. The People’s Square metro station is a short distance from the hotel offering easy access to all areas of the city.
Since we have a limited number of places for the 2026 Shanghai Marathon, we are only offering hotel and entry packages.

Thu 3 Dec:
Arrivals at Shanghai Pudong airport. Meet your driver in the airport arrivals hall. They will be waiting with your name on a sign board and will take you directly to the 5-star Conrad Hotel in Shanghai where we have made a reservation for you on a bed and breakfast basis.
After check-in, time to relax.
Meet & greet our 209 Events member of staff who will be in the hotel reception at 6.30pm
Fri 4 Dec:
After breakfast at the hotel, today’s tour of Shanghai starts at 09:00 and includes visits to the Shanghai Tower and Yuyuan Garden!
After the tour we will enjoy a late lunch at a restaurant in Pudong.
This afternoon you will be escorted to the Shanghai Marathon EXPO, before returning to the hotel for around 17:30.
Enjoy the evening at your leisure.
Sat 5 Dec:
The warm-up run (organised by Shanghai Marathon) takes place today – details and timings to be confirmed.
18:00 – 20:00 Pre-Race Pasta Dinner (buffet; private venue tbc). Includes soft drinks and local mineral water.
Sun 6 Dec:
Today is RACE DAY – you’ll be able to walk from your hotel to the Race Start, assisted by your tour representative. When you have finished the race you can take the subway back to the hotel.
Mon 7 Dec:
Transfer back to Shanghai Pudong airport on the included transfer and catch your return flight back to the UK.
