Farnborough Winter Half Marathon

Date: Sunday February 8, 2026

As in 2025 the 2026 Farnborough Winter Half Marathon will be run in early February a date we expect to follow for the foreseeable future. As in 2025 the 2026 Farnborough Winter Half Marathon will be run in early February a date we expect to follow for the foreseeable future.

For those who remember the icy chill conditions of the inaugural event in 2017, the snow of 2018 or rain and wind of subseqent years, 2025 was an anomaly. Conditions were close to perfect for running, cool but no wind.

The times as a consequence were super quick. In the men's race Adam Clarke set a new course record with a 1:03:46 finish, while Ellie Monks managed the same feat in the women's event with her 1:15:56 finish time. The additon of race within the England Age Group Masters series helped boost times further down the field with more than 100 runners under 80 minutes and 327 under 90.

As well as the fastest ever finishers we also had our slowest, a group of soldiers each 'running' with over 50kg of motar equipment on their backs came home in 5:47:04 some distance behind the other 2400 finishers on the day. It was slowly than we had expected and planned for with our road closures but should be an indication that we care as much about those towards the latter part of our field as we do those who feature at the front. Whether you are running your first half marathon or your hundred and first, this is a race for you.

For those of you not familar with the route, it is a fast, largely flat, traffic-free course, starting and finishing at the historic Airship Hangar adjacent to Farnborough Airport. At the request of the army, who did not want us to run up and down Queens Avenue, we had to make a late change to the 2025 course which replaced the Queens Avenue stretch with a narrower out and back stretch along Laffans Lane. We are looking at the course for 2026 to see how we can improve that stretch or find an alternative area to make up the distance.

From its inception in 2017 the event has been very popular with local runners and those from further afield looking for an early race to test their winter fitness. The race is limited to 3000 runners and has generally sold out well before race date and we would expect the same in 2026 with the event's growing reputation.
